PCB (Printed Circuit Board) Prototypes
What is a PCB Prototype?
PCB prototypes are working models for product development, they can be very cheap to manufacture and will allow you to run tests, check for fit, and ensure that your product is ready for production. When creating an electronic prototype a PCB will typically be used during the development stage and can be made for under $100 for a typical double sided board.
PCB Prototype Order Time
The average manufacturing time for a PCB prototype can be as low as a day or two for rushed delivery, and up to about two weeks for a regular order. There are many companies that will do boards for $20-$40/PCB Prototype with no minimum order quantity, in most cases it will make more financial sense to outsource this process, than to have it done in house, unless multiple prototypes will be needed regularly and quickly.
PCB Prototype Pricing
Depending on the quality of the board needed, the price will increase as size and quality increase, if you are looking to have a PCB prototype that will not be mounted in a tight enclosure, you do not need to pay extra to have the edges of the board routed, or the four layer boards.
If you are working on a final prototype and it must be to specific dimensions, then you will likely pay over $50/PCB prototype and may have a minimum quantity. This would be a PCB prototype that will be ready for production.
PCB Prototype Designing
Once you have a design generated there are many companies that are able to take your file and convert it to the file type needed for PCB Prototype production. Also there are companies that will allow you to design on their software to ensure that your PCB prototype can be created quickly when completed, so before you begin designing the PCB make sure that you are aware of where or how you will be building the PCB Prototype.
Contract Auction has many registered companies that are capable of creating your PCB prototypes and can have a quick turnaround. Create your listing free today and get started with no cost.
